Development & Playtesting
Current Playtesting Projects
At VUCA Simulations, we’re always developing new titles that bring historical accuracy, deep strategy, and immersive gameplay to the table. But great games don’t happen in a vacuum — we rely on passionate players like you to help us test, challenge, and improve our designs.
Below you’ll find an overview of all current projects where we’re actively looking for playtesting support.
How It Works
Each game has its own Trello board, where you’ll find the latest prototype files, development updates, playtesting guidelines, and feedback forms. If you're interested in helping with one or more of these projects, simply contact us with your preferred game(s), and we’ll invite you to the respective board(s).
Whether you're a solo tester, part of a group, or prefer digital platforms like Tabletop Simulator — your insights are highly valued!
For all projects, print files can be provided if physical testing is preferred and printing out is an option.
Open Projects
1. Traces of the Rhine - Playtesting via ZunTzu
Traces of the Rhine, February-March 1945, is a simulation of the U.S. Ninth and Canadian First Armies’ operations (Grenade and Veritable) against the German 15th and 1st Parachute Armies in the area west of the Rhine River in February-March 1945. A two-player, hex-based game, it uses a chit-draw system.
2. Formation Series #3 - Tomaszow - Playtesting via Vassal
An operational-level simulation of the final battles that took place in Poland in late September 1939. Based on the formation series (Crossing the Line, Acrooss the Bug River, Operation Theseus and Mirages).
3. Panzerwaffe - Playtesting via Vassal
A solitaire game that allows you to take command of a German tank on the Eastern Front. Although this game is a heir to Patton's Best and Nigel Hodges' Guderian's Best variant, it offers a new perspective with a modular map made of variable terrain cards (depending on the scenario) that changes each time you play for the operational mode, variable units (per year-season), identification cards, 20 tank types, etc. The game has a battle mode, an operational mode, a campaign mode, and a grand campaign mode (the full war, linking more than 15 campaigns) with plenty of scenarios from the start of Barbarossa to the fall of Berlin.
4. Northern Strike (Based on Red Strike)
The rules of Northern Strike are based on the Red Strike game system and use essentially the same mechanics, which in turn are based on Mark Hermans' Gulf and Aegean Strike games. The game depicts a hypothetical war between NATO and the Warsaw Pact, and deals with the possible participation of Sweden and Finland.
5. 1813 (based on 1812 - Napoleon's Fateful March)
Brian brings his well-received game system from 1812 to the 1813 campaign. Anyone familiar with the former will have an easy time to traverse to this one. But also "fresh" eyes are more than welcome!
